Abstract
This chapter focuses on the ways wikis can be used in education and considers the two major functions of wikis introduced in earlier chapters: wikis as information sources and wikis as social information spaces. While different in purpose and application, both these functions of wiki technology can be applied in schools, technical education and higher education institutions. This chapter presents examples of wikis developed for students, educators, researchers and education administrators. The nature of wiki technology can create special issues for the education sector and strategies for addressing these challenges are discussed.
