Abstract
The author asks fundamental questions about history as a curriculum subject, what is it? She then goes on to do the same for citizenship education. And how do they relate? Finally, she looks at the educational outcomes of citizenship education. What will students get out of citizenship education? How does citizenship education fit in with the wider curriculum? An understanding of history, and history as a curriculum subject might help answer some of these questions.
