Abstract

As part of an intensive process to collect evidence with which to assess the usefulness, effectiveness and impact of the implementation and use of the APST, the Centre for Program Evaluation are undertaking case studies in order to gain an in-depth understanding of how schools and organisations, both individually or in partnership, use and engage with the APST across the six initiatives.   This presentation will discuss the process of designing the case study methodology, the sampling approach, and the data collection procedures. This is collectively aimed at engaging with and capturing the individual and collective voice of jurisdictions, sectors, schools and organisations across Australia. Embedded in the case study methodology is the notion of ‘jurisdiction-based knowledge', and thus, evaluation professionals based in each jurisdiction have been employed to ensure that local knowledge and context is incorporated throughout the data collection activities. As well as discussing the appropriateness of the case study approach, the presentation will also present an overview of the case study data collection and describe how the results will be triangulated with data from the national surveys and forums
