Abstract
This article discusses the development of a student's personal and social skills as an outcome of schooling and as an expectation of the Australian community. The author reports on the results of a study which uses the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth to look at student participation in extra-curricular activities and the effect on drop-out rates and their ability to become resilient learners.
