Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

In this chapter we summarise research on engagement in the arts, drawing on the substantial body of evidence that indicates that engagement can lift performance on a range of indicators of achievement and wellbeing. This extends the general argument set out in Chapter 1. We also describe what is occurring in Australia and other nations on the involvement of the philanthropic sector in school education, with a particular focus on the arts. More evidence is provided in Chapters 6 and 7 to give an international context to Australian research.
