Abstract
ASTA provides its members with a variety of important services designed to enhance the quality of practice. Recently ASTA has undertaken several major projects designed to expand this contribution. One of these was to commission a report in 1995 on ASTA’s potential role in developing and applying professional standards for the teaching of science (Ingvarson, 1995). The report, called Professional Credentials , was presented to ASTA Council at ConASTA last September in Brisbane. This paper provides a summary of that report [1] .
