Abstract
The importance of assessment for improving learning has long been established but capacities to undertake robust assessment vary from country to country. The COVID-19 pandemic has upended conventional notions of education, bringing about faster adoption of technology for learning and increased flexibility in how, when, and where education takes place, with attendant implications for learning assessment. This chapter traces developments in learning assessment in different settings and considers some aspects of assessment for the future, especially in the context of education in an age of disruption.
