Abstract

EdNA Online indexes online resources on behalf of Australian educators across all sectors. Its services and tools are funded by all Australian governments who are the bodies responsible for education provision in Australia. National priorities and developments including shared online information services, federated searching, RSS technology and metadata standards, have caused EdNA Online to begin significant review of several areas of its information management policies and processes. This paper outlines the 2004 review of EdNA Online's browse structure in terms of audience needs, relevance, usability, consistency, quality and efficiency. Edna Online faces the challenge of accommodating all education sectors in its indexing, and this project involved mapping several existing Australian thesauri and evaluating the results in the light of EdNA Online's desire to engage, enlighten and enrich the Australian education and training community.
