Abstract
Creative thinking is a necessary competence for today’s young people to develop, as societies increasingly depend on innovation to address emerging challenges,” says Andreas Schleicher, director for education and skills and special advisor on education policy to the Secretary-General at OECD. In this presentation I discuss various ways creative thinking can be described, with a view to developing an assessment of creative thinking ability. I explain how delivering an assessment on computer can support the development of a broad range of engaging interactive scenarios and items that can be used to measure creative thinking. To illustrate these ideas, I present a number of sample creative thinking items and explain how to score responses to them.
