Abstract
This review is designed to stimulate discussion around what is most useful to consider in the context of provision of careers guidance to adolescents, from the individual perspective. Globally, the use of aptitude or achievement tests for career guidance is limited. This is attributed to two factors. One is the lack of predictive capacity of these measures for career destination. The other is the changing nature of the world of work in which there is increasing mobility of individuals across jobs and careers.
