Abstract

Chapter 8 is concerned with frameworks for accountability and approaches to assessment in Australia. Developments are of international significance because of the emergence of a powerful national framework at the same time that schools are more than ever operating within a framework of decentralized authority, responsibility, and accountability, and therefore must build capacity in related areas. Australia may well soon have a national system of self-managing schools.
