About

Dr Fabienne van der Kleij (BSc, MSc, PhD, University of Twente) is a Senior Research Fellow within ACER’s Assessment Transformation research program, leading a workstream focussed on classroom assessment. Fabienne is passionate about maximising opportunities for assessment to improve student learning outcomes. Specific interests include (AI-generated) feedback, reporting of assessment results to students, their families, and school staff, and formative assessment. Fabienne holds postgraduate degrees in assessment, evaluation, and student learning. She regularly leads literature reviews, consults with key educational stakeholders, and develops evidence-based improvement tools and frameworks relevant to all levels of education systems. Fabienne has published extensively on assessment and student learning in quality international peer-reviewed journal articles, practitioner outlets, and book chapters. Her research has been recognised through prestigious awards, including:
