About

Dr Fabienne van der Kleij (BSc, MSc, PhD, University of Twente) is a Senior Research Fellow within ACER’s Centre for School and System Improvement (CSSI), leading a workstream focussed on evidence and innovation. She is the principal researcher responsible for ACER’s research work in school and system improvement. Fabienne holds postgraduate degrees in assessment, evaluation, and student learning. She regularly leads literature reviews, consults with key educational stakeholders, and develops evidence-based improvement tools and frameworks relevant to all levels of education systems. She has published extensively on assessment and student learning in quality international peer-reviewed journal articles, practitioner outlets, and book chapters. Her research has been recognised through prestigious awards, including:

  • 2013 European Association for Educational Assessment (AEA-Europe) New Assessment Researcher Award
  • 2013 International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) Frances M. Ottobre Distinguished Student Scholarship
  • 2023 European Association for Educational Assessment (AEA-Europe) – Fellowship
