About
Dr Dara Ramalingam, BA, BSc (Hons) Psych Melb, PhD Melb, is the Research Director, Assessment Development at the Australian Council for Educational Research. She specialises in assessment development, particularly in the areas of language and literacy. She was the manager of instrument development for the computer-based assessment of problem solving for the OECD’s Programme for International Assessment (PISA). She played a leading role in test development for the PISA 2009 Reading Assessments (both digital and paper-based) and the OECD Programme for International Assessment of Adult Competencies computer-based assessment of literacy. Dara’s PhD thesis focussed on how the new kinds of information that become available when an assessment is computer-delivered can be used to improve construct validity and measurement precision.
